Raft Race entry details
Getting SPONSORSHIP for your raft makes a big difference to the total on the day.
The Raft Race is a major part of the day with many people coming to see the different types of rafts and their attempts to win, whether they be the fastest, best dressed or just the most original and fun raft.
Last year the race itself raised thousands in sponsorship money. Somerafts are sponsored by businesses, which gives them a great opportunity to display their company name for all to see.
It is estimated that over 10,000 people attended every year. The local press radio and television also cover it.
Please use the attached sponsorship form to get you started, if you need another don’t hesitate to contact us.
We
really appreciate the time and effort that goes into building and
entering a raft and we would like to thank you in advance and wish you
good luck on the
day.
New this year!
You may now setup your own fundraising web page for your raft . Then send details to your friends and colleagues, they will be able to make a donation through the website and it will show on your web page.
We will be presenting a prize on the day for the raft that raises the most money.
More details are available here; Sponsor our Raft (raft organisers - please only one page per raft)
Remember the money donated goes straight to the RNLI and in most cases the RNLI are able to claim 'Gift Aid, meaning that for every £10 you donate the RNLI will receive nearly £12
We will list details of the rafts that are entered along with a link to their sponsorship page on this website.
Don’t forget as well as prizes for the fastest rafts there is a prize for the Best Dressed Raft, so if you make that extra effort with your raft and crew costumes you’ll be in with a good chance to win a prize.
“GOOD LUCK!”
MANY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE 2007 FUN DAY.

MUDEFORD LIFEBOAT FUN DAY RAFT RACE RULES - 27th JULY 2008
While the idea of the day is for everyone to enjoy the event as much as possible, it is however necessary to have some basic rules for the safety of the
teams and others taking part.
Please ensure your team is aware of and adhere to these rules. Once you have completed the application form please sign it and return to;
RAFT RACE APPLICATION, H2O LIFESTYLE, WICK LANE, CHRISTCHURCH, DORSET, BH23 1HX as soon as possible.
This acts as your agreement to the following rules and as your official entry.
- Please arrive and unload your raft at Mudeford Quay by 10.00am on the day (no entries will be accepted after 12.00). Due to congestion we ask that you unload and remove your vehicles immediately. A free park and ride will operate from StanpitRecreation Ground from 11.00am.
- All rafts must have at least one responsible adult (over 18) on board. If your raft consists entirely of under 18’s please contact me on 01202 48 96 55.
- All rafts should be constructed to withstand the elements of the sea and for the safety of your crew. On arrival at the start site your craft will be inspected by the race organiser to ensure that it is seaworthy. The raft must have a towing point and it may be prudent to bring extra lashings/buoyancy in case alterations are required on site.
- All competitors on the raft must wear buoyancy aids/lifejackets whilst the raft is in the water. You are required to supply these and this will be checked prior to the race.
- No Alcohol will be carried or consumed on the raft at any time.
- Safety/Marshal boats will be on the scene throughout the day. There will be a maximum of ten rafts per race, therefore some teams will race in more than one race. The race marshal’s decision is final!
- The organisers of the event cannot be held responsible for any damage caused or, any injuries incurred. Your team should ensure that they are covered by their own personnal insurance.
- Due to injuries in previous events, there will be NO throwing of objects which may cause harm such as eggs or fish. Neither should anything be thrown into the public crowd. Failure to abide by this rule will result in disqualification from any futureFunday events.
- Sponsorships or donations collected should be handed in on the day. Please make cheques payable to Mudeford Lifeboat Fun Day.
- The race organiser will advise you of the course on the day. Please keep to the course to ensure fairness and safety to all teams (course length is approx. 300 yards).
- On finishing the course, you will be asked to beach your raft in a specific location.
- It is your responsibility to remove and dispose of your raft sensibly. Christchurch
- Council will charge you for the removal of any debris/rafts that are not cleared away.
